Boston Library Society is established.

[1794-Weeks] It is located initially in the lower rooms in the arch in the Tontine Crescent. Incorporated on June 17, 1794, the organization is also a dining club. It continues as an independent entity until it merges with the Boston Athenaeum in 1939.
